As Artists we have a need to give back to our communities by raising funds for different charities and organizations. You might even decide to adopt a school or classroom like my family is doing. We have adopted the Autism Class at Walnut Hill Elementary School (my elementary school). Our school district does not supply the classroom with all the things they need to make sure these special kids have a great school day. We decided to lend them a hand. We have purchased washable pillows for each child to sit on and my mom Sandi of Always Crafty 2 and Shweet Potato Dolls N Patterns is making soft, bright washable pillowcases for each pillow.

What can you do? Give back where you are. Here on this blog we will be linking to auctions for causes like Breast,Skin and Ovarian Cancers, Lupus, Autism, Dyslexia just to name a few. We hope to share uplifting postive stories and ways that you can give back in your special way.

You know one thing I have learned from my mom that I will take with me the rest of my life is that we need to take care of each other. One of my mom's friends told us about Devon Shaw. This 15 yr old teenager who has cancer. You can read more about Devon Here.

Mom's friend is donating a % of everything she sells the next couple weeks to this family to help with their travel expenses when they go to another city for surgery.

Hair Artists Giving Back! How can you help?

Giving back in your communites both local and worldwide is something that Paul Mitchell and his Schools has long been known for. From simple fundraising acts of allowing casual wear instead of the normal black gear on Fridays for a donation to many other larger and even more fun ways to raise money for many charity organization and relief efforts.
If you are in the Dallas area you might consider coming by the CCC Paul Mitchell Partner School located in Carrollton, TX at 2389A Midway Rd.
Here are a few ways the students and staff are giving back.

Coffee for a Cause
Acoustic sets and coffee night at CCC.
Date: March 20, 2010
Time: 7 - 10pm

Join us for Coffee for a Cause; we will have a coffee house setting of fun, mingling and acoustic sets.

The walk-a-thon will begin and end at Cosmetology Career Center. After the walk-a-thon all participants are invited to stay for a hamburger and hot dog cook out.
